Love hurts
June 11, 2008
It’s true. Love is not always lovey-dovey, sweet and mushy. There are times you love someone so much that it actually hurts.
Early pregnancy – Feeling sick almost 24 x 7, losing appetite and even some weight.
Month 4 to 5 of pregnancy – Having heat rash that crawls from belly to chest, thigh, arms….Slapped all sorts of anti-itch cream and calamine lotion. Truly annoying!
Month 6 onwards till before labor - Terrible backache, neck and shoulders. I was supposed to sleep on my side, so this does not quite work for me. Also experiencing the Braxton Hicks contractions on and off.
Labor till delivery (say 10 – 11 hours) – Contractions get stronger, the pain got extended to down south as well.
After delivery (phew, is it over yet??) - Not quite, down south still very sore. This went on for the following 2 weeks. Besides, milk ducts are getting themselves ready to shoot, got so blocked up that boobs got so engorged and hurts like S**T.
Baby at 1 month old - Heart aches because baby is crying away when he is given Hep B shots.
Baby at 2 months old - Heart aches even more as he is given 4 vaccinations shots at one go. It just breaks your heart to hear him crying because of pain.
Baby at 3 – 4 months old - Baby is learning to grasp things with his hands and he has discovered that mommy’s hair is so fun to pull. Mommy is soon going to have bald patches on both sides of her head.
Let’s roll back the after delivery till now – Back still hurts till very day. Baby is getting heavier each day, pain is extended to neck, shoulders and even wrists. Then his little razor sharp nails, pinches on to the neck and pulling your skin with it. Not to mention when he bashes you on your boobs due to his arms flying around not coordinated. Let’s me see, what else………oh yeah……blocked milk ducts then caused infections and fever. Plus, having interrupted sleeps throughout the night, so so tired… As for daddy, sometimes he got kicked in the nuts while burping this little precious.
Regardless how painful, how tired we are, mommy and daddy will still be there for you. Just one simple reason, mommy and daddy loves you very much, even though we have to endure these pains.
And you know what, I don’t have the supermodel look and body; I smell like sour milk when he throws up on me; neither I have the sweetest voice, nor the best dancer in the world….but the rewarding part is:- my baby is happy to see me, he likes hearing my voice, he laughs when I make silly sounds, the smell of mine sooths and comforts him, and he is happy even we are just plain bouncing silly around the room. I can proudly say, I am his mommy
